- putty knife

- Cleaning: Clean the area you will repair.Wipe down the acrylic bathtub with wet cloth to remove all oil, grease or any dirt.Dry the bathtub with clean cloth.Make sure that the area is thoroughly cleaned and dry.
- Sanding first: Sand the bathtub surface on and around the damaged zone with fine grit sandpaper.Remove any dust or dirt after sanding.This will provide a smooth and clean surface for the repair material and sealer.
- Laying tape: Put the patching tape on the surface of the sanded area.Lay the tape out smoothly and completely cover the crack, burns or hole.
- Applying mixture: Mix the repair resin, filler and hardener from the acrylic repair kit which can be found in most hardware and home repair stores.Apply the compound mixture over the patching tape evenly by the putty knife.Allow it to dry completely before proceeding further.
- Sanding again: Sand the area to make sure completely smooth surface.Use a coarser grit sandpaper to start, and switch to a fine grit sandpaper to finish the job.Rub until the surface of the repair is at the same level as the surface of the bath tub.Clean the surface by a soft and dampened cloth.
- Applying sealer: Apply the sealer over the dried and sanded surface.Allow the sealer to dry for the recommended amount of time.
- Spraying paint: Spray on a light coat of an acrylic paint which can be found at most hardware stores make sure its color matches the color of the damaged acrylic bathtub.Allow it to dry thoroughly for the recommended amount of time.
- Polishing: Polish the repaired area by a liquid polish.Get a clean cloth and use it to apply the polish over the scratched area, the color blends in with the rest of the bathtub quickly, you can see the scratch disappears soon after you apply if for a few minutes.
- Hardened: Allow your repair to harden for four days before using your acrylic bathtub.
